{"id":1989,"date":"2022-02-02T15:30:38","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T14:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aquaculture-welfare-standards.net\/?page_id=1989"},"modified":"2026-08-25T12:34:37","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T10:34:37","slug":"become-an-awsi-member","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.aquaculture-welfare-standards.net\/en\/become-an-awsi-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Becoming an AWSI member"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 id=\"who-can-join-us\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who can join us?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In principle, AWSI is open to all interested parties who wish to make their own technical contributions to the topic of &#8220;animal welfare and sustainable aquaculture&#8221; or implement such contributions in their respective fields of activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, participation of experts with a focus on aquaculture, animal welfare, or animal health from the following areas is desired and sought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Science and administration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food retailing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fishery science and aquaculture companies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representatives from recognized professional non-governmental organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certification bodies and certifiers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AWSI operates transnationally from Germany with the goal of incorporating existing and new initiatives from other countries and achieving the broadest possible international impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AWSI participation is possible upon invitation by the project coordinator and after signing a letter of intent, a non-disclosure agreement and a declaration of compliance with antitrust regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-is-negotiation-done\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is negotiation done?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AWSI&#8217;s negotiating language is German; English is spoken in the case of international participation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone participating in AWSI activities on behalf of a company or organization shall, to the best of his or her knowledge, ensure that he or she has a negotiating mandate on the issues to be discussed prior to each consultation round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AWSI members undertake to treat each other with respect and to communicate in a spirit of mutual appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is in the common interest of all participants that deliberations on all topics up for decision lead to a consensus whenever possible, in order to take the greatest possible step towards achieving AWSI&#8217;s goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"which-obligation-arise\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which obligation arise?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are no costs or fees associated with participation in AWSI activities until further notice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AWSI members get exclusive access to \u201cVR facing fish welfare\u201d. The OER learning platform is free of charge for non-commercial use at educational institutions and in aquaculture learning centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For invited external experts and representatives of non-profit organizations, reimbursement of travel expenses can be provided by the project coordinator upon request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information is exchanged via email correspondence, webinars and online meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get in touch with us.
